The sun was shining brightly on Holyoke on this particular Labor Day weekend. Aurora had gone into Denver earlier that day and she was now on her way back home, however she'd run low on gas about halfway through Holyoke so she decided that she should fill up her truck. As she pulled into the gas station, Aurora parked her car by a pump and hopped out of her car. She was wearing a pair of jeans shorts and a plaid long sleeved shirt that was tied up around her stomach, showing off her tanned abs.
She shuffled her cowgirl boot covered feet along the sidewalk and pulled her gascard out of her pocket. Her dad had gotten her a gas credit card so he didn't have to give her money that she would probably use for things other than gas. Rory started pumping her gas and she leaned back against her truck. She yawned slightly as she held the pump loosely in her tank. She was exhausted, shopping really did that. She had bought a homecoming dress and some other clothes; Rory's mom didn't have time to make her clothes, which she was somewhat thankful for.
As the gas filled up, Rory turned her head and saw another truck drive into the gas station. It was someone she didn't really know, a new student quite possibly. It was weird to not know someone, especially in holyoke where you lived in a small town where you went to school with people from kindergarten through senior year. After she had finished filling up the tank of her car, Rory pulled the pump out and put it away. She decided that a snack might suffice, so she walked to the door of her truck and grabbed her purse. She locked the doors of the truck and walked to the inside of the Gas N Go.
As she entered the store, a tiny bell tingled above her head. "good afternoon miss Lanceton," the man who was working the counter said. She waved to him with a smile and walked over to the chips. She looked at all of the stuff, unsure of what she might want to buy. She finally decided on a bag of cheetos and was walking back to the counter when someone ran into her and knocked her down. "Excuse you," she said bitchily to the person as she smoothed out her hair.

The mall was never a really smart place for Austin to go. He was usually the type to spend too much money: clothes, hats, shoes, food, jewelry. Anything that could be bought in the mall, was all fair game for Austin. But today he didn't care, at the moment he was flying solo. Labor Day weekend? Austin doesn't really do holiday's, especially ones that involve his family, aside from his brother. He wore were a pair of khaki pants, and a navy blue polo shirt, three light blue stripes across the chest. His black, hair was covered by a white baseball cap.
About an hour later, Austin walked out of the mall with a couple bags, he knew he probably spent too much but doubts about money never stopped him before. He bought two pairs of shoes, three hats, four shirts and five pairs of pants, the usual when he went to mall. Money was no problem, he worked a couple jobs and could easily hold his own. Austin threw his bag in his black mustang and got in, moments later, pulling out of the parking lot.
About five minutes later, Austin pulled into the Gas n Go, needing to fill up his car. He parked his car, got out and gripped his wallet, going in to put money on the pump. He opened the door for a woman as she was coming out and nodded when she uttered 'thank you', then walked in pass her. He walked down the slim aisles and gripped a bag of Doritos and a bottle of Sprite, when he turned to corner he noticed Aurora picking her self up off the floor. He smirked, "What are you doing" he said with a chuckle and a raised eyebrow.

Aurora picked herself up from the floor and glared at the girl who looked frightened for her life and then ran off. Aurora recognized her as a girl that Taylor had been friends in the summer before. With a roll of her eyes she dusted off her shorts. Rory tossed the bag of doritos back to the shelf it had been on and picked up another, less mashed bag when she heard Austin's voice behind her. A grin flashed to her cheeks as she saw him.
Rory tossed her arms around Austin's neck gently and she kissed him on the cheek. She had to stand on her tippytippytoes just to reach because she was such a shorty. "I'm trying not to be bitter at little freshmen, what are you doing?" she asked as she dropped back to her feet and fixed her hair a bit. Some would call Aurora vain, however she would just call it being concerned about the way that she looks. With a giggle she looked at Austin, knowing that he'd been up to something.
She walked up to the counter and set her bag of doritos on the counter. She knew that Austin would follow, probably because he had his stuff to buy too. Rory pulled a dollar out of her wallet and paid for the chips. She opened the bag as soon as she could and took one out. "Austin, why haven't I seen you lately?" she asked him after she ate the chip.

Austin stood in the aisle and waited for and explanation. He wasn't really sure why she was on the ground, but there were only so many reason why. He walked a little closer to her as she got to her feet and dusted herself off, by the looks of it she had been knocked over. He waited for his voice to register with her and watched as she turned around and grinned at the sight of him.
Austin smiled back at her as she closed in on him, he wrapped his arms around her waist as she did the same around his neck. He smiled when she pulled back from the kiss, allowing some space between them after the hug. He nodded at her comment, "Oh, I was just going back home, after I got some gas" he replied with another nod. He wasn't too happy about that, he had to avoid his abusive father and check up on his brother every other minute. He couldn't wait to get out of there.
He walked up to the counter and paid for his food, "$40 on pump 3" he added with small smile, handing the man the money as he rang up the price. He gripped his bag of chips and his bottle of pop as the man gave him the change. He turned back to Rory. "Oh, I've been hiding" he joked, truth was he never really did holidays and always tried to keep himself busy. "But I promise to see more of you" he added with a smile.

With a slick smile, Rory nodded to Austin. She knew that he didn't exactly like his home life, while she didn't know why, she just knew it wasn't pleasent. Aurora didn't really like her home life either, she didn't like her sister and her dad was always being a jerk. He was dicking around with his secretary, so why was Rory the only one noticing when he came home super late and looking all exhausted. He was the mayor, for god's sake, it's not like he did a lot on a daily basis.
"Oh good, hiding is always fun," she smiled and walked out of the open doorway to her car. "I'm more important than anyone, so you should definitely be seeing me more," she said with a laugh and she stopped by her truck, which was parked next to his 'stang. Rory had always been jealous of his car, but she had her trusty truck. It got her places, and really that was all that mattered. She really only needed it to get from town to her house, other than that she could just walk everywhere.
Football season had just started, with their school having the first game on Friday before. Aurora was a cheerleader, so she had a lot to do during the week. She sighed softly as she thought about cheer practice at six the next morning. Woo, two a days! She smiled at Austin softly. "So Austin, when are we gonna hang out again?" she asked him with raised eyebrows.

Austin was definitely the type to hide things behind his smile and laughter, always tending to joke around to cover up the real truth. It was just something he learned to do and eventually got use to it. Though he never lied about it, he would never lie for his father, but was sure no one had idea about either his parents and that was just the way he liked it, he barely talked about them.
Austin smiled at her comment and followed her out the door. He walked over near the pump and opened the gas tank, inserting the pump and pushing the button. He threw his food into the passenger seat of his car and leaned on the top of his car "Yeah, I guess you are more important than all of the people I talk to" he joked sarcastically, deciding to agree with her. He watched her turn to him and ask him if she was going to get more time to hang out with him. He grinned, "Aww, you miss me already? I haven't even left yet." he teased. Flirting came too easy for Austin, it was just fun, especially messing with the underclassmen girls. It was just a natural thing. [/blockquote]

Rory tossed her bag of chips in the drivers side window. She didn't really bother with locking the car, mainly because it was Holyoke and you could see everything from inside the store. Rory didn't worry about it because her dad was the mayor and no one wanted to attempt shit on the car with the license plate that said "PrsRory" because they all knew that it was short for Princess Aurora which was short for Holyoke's Mayor's Favorite Daughter.
"Oh yes, I'm glad you've come to realize it Austin," Rory grinned as she leaned up against his car next to him, her brown eyes looking up at his. "I miss you everyday of my life. When you're not around, I cry and ask myself 'where is Austin?!'" she joked with a laugh. Rory was such a flirt, and she knew that Austin liked to flirt with her too. She hated the fact that she liked him, but he never seemed to show interest in her. She didn't really understand, it was kinda messed up in her mind but whatever. Rory ran a hand through her hair and then proceeded to twirl a strand around her pointer finger with a yawn. She knew that she should be getting home, but she wanted to hang out here because that'd be a lot more fun than going back to the Casa.

Austin smiled at Ror and turned hearing the click at his gas tank as the pump finished filling in the gas. He gripped the pump and placed it back on the hook, closing his gas tank and turning back to her. It actually has been a while since he and her talked, or atleast hung out together. He didn't really realize it before but he was sure the eagerness to hang out with him was real, and after thinking about it, you could say he felt the same.
Austin watched Rory lean up against his car and closed in on him. He smirked to himself and continued to play along, "Yeah, your the only girl I should be talking" he replied with a straight face, sliding his hand down the side of her face. He tried to hold in his laughter but couldn't help but chuckle at her second comment. He gathered himself and looked back into her eyes, "Well If you miss me that much, I'm sure we could find something to do together. Alone" he joked with a nod and a wink, placing his arm around her shoulder. Austin was a flirt and knew that Rory would catch onto his ways eventually. They were both good friends, so why not?, and so far so good. As for Aurora's feelings, he never really paid too much attention to it, you could say he just didn't notice it. But then again, Austin appeared to be just like ever other guy, or probably just clueless.

After Austin went to work on his gas pumping ness, Rory fixed her hair a little more severely, making it look a lot better. She smiled sweetly as he turned back to her and leaned up against his car again. "Yes, the only girl who matters in this ish we like to call Holyoke," she grinned happily and turned onto her side and looked at him with a grin. Rory was a very arrogant girl, but hey, that's not too bad. At least she wasn't one of those people who is completely oblivious to the fact that they are good looking.
"Yesssss. Time with Austin alone!" Rory said with a laugh and she did a little victory dance. She was a dork at times, and right now was one of those times. Rory smirked slightly as he rested his arm around her shoulder. She knew that things were pretty freaking sweet right now. She didn't even care if he knew that she liked him, because things were working out with them just being friends who flirted a lot. Rory figured that Austin had no idea she liked him because he was a boy, and they tend to be not as cunning as females. No offense to boys, it's just the truth. Rory pushed her body off of the car. "Well let's go do something, right now!" she said with a grin.

Austin waited for her response and honestly expected her to have a playful outraged expression on her face, or atleast a playful shove. He wasn't surprised that she was happy about his suggestion and of course, he just shrugged it off. He smiled at her goofy dance and when she accepted his offer to spend time alone. Austin was sure if he was serious, but he would never deny a friend time with him, it was all just more time to for him to show off.
After a while he removed his hand from around her shoulder and smiled back at her. She then suggested that the two do something together, now. That kind of took Austin by surprise. He really didn't want to go home, but then again he felt obligated to check up on his brother who would soon be alone with their father in about an hour, when he got off work. He thought to himself before replying, "Okay. What do you want do?" he questioned. He wasn't really sure what to do around a gas station. He convinced himself that he didn't have to report in all the time, he'd be fine.

With a smirk, Rory stopped dancing. She stood with her hands on her hips and she looked up at the sky. It was surprisingly blue, and that was a good thing to her. She hadn't really noticed the sky that day, she'd been too busy noticing things about herself. Yeah, Aurora was self centered and cocky, but that's just the way she was. It was rare for her to realize that she was being arrogant until it was far too late; and even then she didn't really care. Rory knew, also, that Austin was arrogant. It didn't really bother her at all, she liked people who were confident. Even if they were overly confident.
Rory thought about what she wanted to do, there wasn't really anything at all to do around this town. "Uh..." she thought. They could drive away to somewhere fun, like Nebraska. They weren't too far, it'd only take about forty minutes to get there. But that probably wouldn't be too bad. Rory grinned softly and then opened her mouth to speak. "I dunno, what do you wanna do?" she asked him. Rory was bad at making decisions, so asking her what to do wasn't a good idea. She didn't ever know what she wanted to do unless she had something specially scheduled.
