Austin walked away from the parking lot, gripped his keys and looked around the park, dressed in a >>white A&F shirt<< and a pair of jeans. He squinted slightly at his surroundings and nobody was here of course. It was about four in the afternoon, and so far the park looked pretty open for the most part. He started to walk slowly in search of Whit, they had texted eachother to meet here to talk.
After a while, Austin finally decided to take a seat at one of the benches. Today he wasn't on a afternoon jog or trying to play basketball, which was a switch from his regular routine. He didn't really know why all of a sudden Whit had wanted to talk, but this had happened plently of times so he figured things weren't going to be any different. So there Austin sat, staring at the grass waiting for her to show up. [/blockquote]

Whitney parked her car and started looking around for Austin. She had on a pair of Juicy Jeans and a Hollister tank top. Her hair was down and straight and she had her sunglasses on. She walked around the park looking for him, fully expecting him to be flirting with some girl. But when she saw him she was surprised to see him just sitting on a bench, with no girls in sight. She smiled when she saw him sitting there. He always made her smile. But she was doing exactly what she had told herself she wasnt going to do. She had told herself that she wasnt going to talk to Austin anymore. This was their senior year and she wanted to enjoy it, not get her heart broken every other week. And yet she found herself sending the guy texts saying that she wanted to meet him. Could she get any more dumb?
Whitney started to walk towards him. "Hey" she said with a slight smile. It was good to see him again. They hadnt talked in a while and she really did miss him. What was it that made girls so attracted to guys that were players? Well she knew the answer to that for Austin. He was hot, and he knew it. The fact that he knew he was hot just drove girls wild. It didnt really drive her wild anymore, but that was what had attracted her to him in the first place. Whitney took a seat next to him and decided just to get to the point of their little meeting. Their wasnt any need for hellos and how are yous. "So i wanted to talk to you, basically about us." she said taking a deep breath. "This is our Senior year Austin and its something i want to remember. I dont want to have to forget it because im getting my heart broken every time we try us. So im just kinda wondering what we are right now? Or what do you want us to be? I can tell you that i want to be with you, but i dont know if i can let myself if you are not going to be fully committed." Whitney decided that she would end her statement there and maybe let him get a word or two in.

Austin sat still on the bench, just staring off into the air in front of him, while he waited for Whitney to show up. He wasn't really sure why she wanted to just go somewhere and talk, usually they would just happen to run into eachother, and the rollercoaster would start all over again. Not that he was being cocky or anything but it was sort of expected. Things between them had been the same for a while now and by now Austin was use to her coming around every now and then. Usually it sparked their relationship, again.
Austin looked up at the sound of Whitney's voice and spotted her walking near him. He gave a small smile back in return and replied, "Hey". He watched he still, closing in on him and taking a seat next to him. She hadn't greeted him with one of her cheery grins or a hug so he thought to himself that things may be different than when he had thought. Her jumping right to the topic only confirmed his thoughts. Austin exhaled when she wanted to talk about their relationship, Us. He waited for her to finish and looked to her with raised eyebrows, still taking it all in. "I don't know what we are either" he replied with a shrug, that's basically the reason why they've been on and off for all this time. Austin had agreed to commit plenty of times but in the end..."Maybe we should just stop, things are already complicated between us." he spoke with another shrug. He didn't know what to do, it was either all commitment or nothing.

Whitney just sat there waiting for him to reply. Usually they would just get together many times during the year then break up then get back together. And Whitney was just tired of it. She wanted a boyfriend, a real boyfriend. Austin hadnt been her real boyfriend since freshman year. Whitney was ready to move on with her life, and start acting mature. Was it so much to ask of him? Just for him to commit to her and not go and hook up with ten different girls in a matter of two days? Ok maybe that was a exaggerated, but whenever they got together he just couldnt stop his little wandering eye. But she felt like maybe if he really wanted to be with her then things would work out. But apparently he felt other wise as she soon realized when he spoke.
"Maybe we should just stop, things are already complicated between us." Once those words came out of his mouth Whitney took her eyes off him and looked at the ground. She couldnt look at him. Was he really that immature of a guy that he couldnt commit? Especially to someone he has known and has had a history with. "Do you really want to end things?" If they did end things then this would be the first year of high school that Whitney would enter and be on the market. She always had started high school with Austin by her side, well sorta. It sure would be different and she wasnt sure if she really liked different.

Things had been complicated between them for a long time, even their friends could keep up with their relationships, well atleast Austin's girl friends. On and off wasn't the way to keep a relationship going, and if by now he wasn't sure maybe it just wasn't right. Austin would rather break it off with her than to hurt her again after she had just made her statement about being sick and tired of it. Austin may have been a jerk at times but he wasn't heartless.
Austin stared at her while she shifted her eyes to the ground. He exhale, "It's not like I don't like you or anything. It's just been crazy between us, and this can't go on forever." he spoke, trying to justify himself. This was as hard as breaking up, and they weren't together, technically. He was trying not to sound arrogant or cocky, but couldn't help to think to himself. He was just trying to sound sincere, for once. He thought about her question, "You probably deserve better than me anyway" he said with another shrug and a smirk.

"It's not like I don't like you or anything. It's just been crazy between us, and this can't go on forever." When those words came out of his mouth she finally looked up. Did he really just say that to her? She had said that they could try the whole commitment thing. That way the whole on again off again thing would be over. But apparently he couldn't commit, or maybe he could and he just didn't want to do it with her. "I know this cant go on forever, thats why i suggested we actually become a couple. But apparently your too immature to actually have a girlfriend and find love." She said to him before she stood up. She really did not want to get into a huge argument right in the middle of the park.
"Or maybe you are mature enough to commit but you just don't want to do it with me, which kinda sucks because that means i have totally wasted the last FOUR years of my life with someone who could care less about me." She said as she turned around and walked a few feet away. She just froze, she couldn't move. She felt as if she just walked away from him then it would mean that whatever they had was over, and she wasn't sure if she was ready to admit that.

Austin waited for her to lift her head and say something, anything. He was trying his hardest not to make himself sound typical and arrogant. He was 'the flirting' type but wanted her to know that not commiting to her didn't mean he wanted to flirt more with other girls. He did, usually. But this time it wasn't the case. Austin huffed again at her statement and decided to keep things calm between them, careful not to start some loud arguement. "I'm trying not to be immature. You made it clear that you don't want anymore heartbreak, and I don't want to be the one to hurt you again" he explained himself.
Inside his head he couldn't help but notice the irony, no matter how hard he tried to keep things moderate, they always escaladed. He tired to explain, and before he had gotten half-way into this discussion he knew he had already messed up. Girls were complicated, especially with their feelings, which was why he continued cautiously. "I do care about you, alot." he replied. "And yeah, the last four years have been..." he couldn't find the words, other than the ones he had said already. Austin got up from his seat, "I would just rather have you like me as a friend, then hate me all togther for messing things up again" he finished.

Whitney closed her eyes momentarily while he spoke and she took a deep breath. She wasnt going to push him to be with her. You couldnt force someone to be with you. Maybe their little run was over. If it was it was fun while it lasted. She turned around and faced him. "Ok, fine. Just friends." She said with a forced smile. Anyone with half a brain could tell that it was the fakest smile ever. It was going to be extremely weird knowing that what they had was never going to happen again. Actually it wasnt weird, it sucked. She could just see it now, him hanging all over some dumb blonde bimbo girl. That would really suck, knowing that once she was that girl.
She sighed again. She wasnt sure what to say to him now. What do you say to a guy that you just ended things with. It was weird that she felt like such crap. Sure they werent together, but everyone knew that they would get back together. So it was basically like they were breaking up, but for good this time. Boy, people would be shocked when they returned to school and found out that "THE JOCK" and "THE CHEERLEADER" had broken up and werent getting back together.

Austin stood and tried to explain himself and at this point he was sure Whitney didn't want to hear it. At times he could tell where the cut off point was when people couldn't hear pass a certain word. She probably wasn't listening right now and he could tell as soon as she gave a sarcastic smile. He knew she didn't mean that, and this was harder for her then she thought. "Don't be mad." he pleaded. "You know your gonna find some guy who means more to you than me" he added. Did Austin think there was a guy out there better than him? No. But again, he was trying to be sincere about this. "Your gonna get over me" he added trying to reassure her. He knew Whit was stronger than that and she would have no problems finding guys and getting a boyfriend.

Thinking about everything that they had been through it was a wonder that this hadn't happened years ago. To tell you the truth Whitney knew that this day would come. The day when they decided to just end things and be friends. Sure it would suck that every time she felt like she wanted to get laid she couldn't just run to Austin, but there were good things about being just friends. Like, well.... OK cant think of anything at the moment, but there are some good things. "Don't be mad. You know your gonna find some guy who means more to you than me. Your gonna get over me" Whitney listened to every word that he said. He really did sound sincere. Even if he wasn't he sounded like he was and she liked that. "I'm not mad." She said shaking her head. "I'm a girl, we get emotional about everything." She said with a real smile this time. "And, you did mean a lot to me Austin, i mean you still do and you probably always will. If you didn't then i wouldn't have kept coming back to you." Myabe he didnt think that he ment a lot to her but he did and she was going to miss him
