Whitney stepped out of her car and locked it before she looked around. The park wasnt very crowded and to her that was a very good thing. she hated it when it was crowded, especally when she wanted to go for a run, which wasnt often. She usually went for runs when she needed time to get away, and now was one of those times. She was starting her senior year and she was totally excited. she already knew that she wanted to go to NYU for fashion after she graduated. But her mother had other plans. She wanted Whitney and Paige to go to school and become lawyers. Ha yeah right. There was no way in hell Whitney would be able to get into law school, at least with her grades she wouldnt. It wouldnt surprise her if Paige did because Paige was perfect compared to her.
Whitney put her headphones of her iPod into her ears and started to jog at a nice steady pace. She was glad she wasnt home at the moment. Before she left she got into a huge fight with her mother about her step-father. Her mother thought that she needed to spend more time with him. Who was she kidding. She actually expected her to hang out with the guy that tore their family apart. And then their was the whole Austin ordeal. She had no idea what was going on with them anymore. She wanted to be with him but she couldnt let herself. Everytime they got together, she ended up getting hurt. She sighed as she continued to run. Why did guys have to be such jerks? Sure, Austin could be nice and loving but he was also arrogant and she couldnt handle that. Finally Whitney felt like she had ran enough and sat down on a bench.

Katherine normally came to the park to clear her head and help her with a difficult song she was writing. Sometimes she just felt to closed in in her room and she just had to get out into the open air. As she walked down the paths, the cool, refreshing air blew through her brownish blond hair. She wore skinny jeans that slimmed down as it approached her ankles and a green knit top. She also had on a light, light brown jacket that was only halfway buttoned. Warm, though not overly so, Katherine continued to walk.
As Kate walked, she hummed the tune to herself, trying to think up lyrics. Sometimes she would write the lyrics first and sometimes she would write the melody first. The latter was the hardest. Katherine sighed and decided to think of something else. She thought about tutoring and she thought about college. She wanted to go to Berkley, though she was unsure if she wanted to move so far away. It was either the east or west coast for her though and Berkley was her top school. She sighed again and looked around the park. Her eyes fell on a familiar face and recognized the person as Whitney. "Hey," Kate called out, walking toward her.

Whitney's thoughts were soon interupted when she heard the oh so familiar voice of Katherine Darcy; her truest and best friend. As soon as she saw her a smile formed on her face. She felt like she hadnt smiled in such a long time, it felt nice. "Hey you, you look cute today." She said with a smile as she looked at her friends attire. She looked really cute, unlike herself who was wearing a pair of running shorts, a white wife beater and her hair was pulled back into a high pony tail. Usually she cared about what she looked like but lately she really could care less. Maybe it was because she had no one to look nice for. When she was dating Austin she always was concerned about how she looked, probably because she always felt like she was competing for him with all the other girls he flirted with.
Whitney sighed and closed her eyes for a second. Could she just stop thinking about Austin for like one minute. It was hard though, everything she did and every where she went reminded her of him. Even seeing Kate made her think of him. She knew that they had become friends and were probably spending time with eachother. What if they started dating? Would Austin really do that to her? Would Kate really do that to her? Did Kate even like Austin? She couldnt like Austin. She was so sweet and he was such a....JERK! Of coarse tomorrow she would probably think that Austin was the most loving and caring person ever but that was just how their relationship worked. One minute they hated eachother's guts and the next minute they were all over eachother.

Katherine smiled back. It was a nice coincedence to run into Whitney like this as lately they hadn't had time to hang out. "Thanks," she said, her grin widening. It was mainly due to Whitney that Katherine was looking so nice. Kate looked over Whitney's attire. No matter what, Whitney always looked good. In someways she was jealous, but not in a bad way, but more in a flattering way, though she did generally get the guy while Katherine watched from the sidelines.
"Let me guess, Austin?" Katherine asked, guessing why Whitney was out here and why she looked a little distant. It was a little hard for her to hear about Austin, and Austin and Whitney. She did it for her friend, and she tried to give her the best advice to help, and not to try and keep the two apart. That was not Katherine. She would never put her happiness in front of her friend's. Katherine sat down on the bench next to Whitney. "So, do you want to tell me about it?" she asked. She gave a sympathetic smile, truly willing to listen.

Whitney smiled as her friend sat next to her. She didnt know how many times Katherine had heard her sob story over Austin. But everytime that Whitney needed to talk to someone about it Katherine was there for her and she loved that. She smiled a little, pre paring herself to tell Katherine about her delima. "Well, i think were done, for good." She said looking at her trying to put a smile on her face. Thinking more and more about it just made her feel more and more worse. But she was not going to cry. no way! she had agreed to being friends with him. it was her decision to end things just as much was it his.
"It sucks, but i need to move on with my life. i cant dwell on some boy." But the truth was Austin wasnt some boy. He was supposed to be her boy. Thats just the way things worked. They were supposed to be together. He said that she deserved better than him. But she didnt want better than him, she wanted him. The bad thing was, was that she was never good at telling people truly how she felt. she always hid it because she was supposed to be heartless.

"You and Austin?" Katherine said, surprised. "I am so sorry," she added with concern. "Truthfully I can't believe this. He is a fool to end things," she continued, trying to make Whitney feel better. Of course it probably wasn't, but it was the thought that counted. "You know, perhaps we should have a girl's night out and forget about boys, just for the night."
Katherine didn't have any boy to worry about, well none that was causing her any trouble. "Dwelling is bad," Katerine says. "And who knows, maybe you'll meet a guy who will make you forget about Austin. He isn't that great anyways." Katherine had become a good lier, or more like good at keeping a secret as she showed no sign of liking Austin. She almost disliked him at the moment for hurting Whitney, but as it was there was something about him that made every girl fall for him. But there had to be someone better out there for her friend … and for herself.

Whitney smiled at her friend as she suggested a girls night. She really liked the idea of a girls night. She hadnt just hung out with the girls in a while. "A girls night would be amazing, we should deffinitaly do it." She said with a huge smile. When it came to planning parties or events Whitney was the girl to go to. She just loved doing it. She always was throwing parties, just so she could organize them. "And who knows, maybe you'll meet a guy who will make you forget about Austin. He isn't that great anyways." She couldnt help but laugh at this comment. "Austin isnt that great? are you serious? Sure he can be a total ass but just look at him, he is drop dead gorgeous. Even you have to admit that." She wouldnt care if Kate said that she thought that Austin was cute or good looking because so did about every other girl in their school. Hell,right now, she probably wouldnt even care if she went and made out with Austin. Of coarse after her hate for Austin died down a little bit she would probably be pissed but she was talking about right now, she could care less what Austin did and who he did it with.
{Sorry this one is short}

""Yeah, that's the spirit!" Katherine said, sounding a little cheesy. She hadn't had time to hang out with Whitney much while she was wrapped up with Austin, but now that they were completely over, Katherine could have more time with her friend. "Now what about Ricardo Moore?" she asked, remembering Whitney mention him once or twice.
"Ok, Austin is great as far as looks go," and he can be sort of sweet, "and he can look adorable, but there must be a guy with looks and personality!" Katherine exclaimed. She knew every girl thought Austin was hot. It was just an universal truth. She had to admitt that or admitt that she was crazy with bad taste in boys. "Don't say that! Don't go running back into his arms unless he apologizes."

Whitney smiled thinking about a girls night. She would invite everyone, well at least all the girls. Every single one in the entire school. She was so tired of boys dictating her happiness and she was sure every other girl was too. Whitney's thoughts about the girls night were interrupted when she heard Katherine mention Austin again. "OK, Austin is great as far as looks go, and he can look adorable, but there must be a guy with looks and personality!Don't say that! Don't go running back into his arms unless he apologizes." She smiled a little at her friend. "I don't think i will be running back to him, ever again. It was fun while it lasted, but its done and over. Its just going to be weird. This will be the first year i will be starting a school year without a boyfriend. I mean Ive never really had to think about boys and getting a boyfriend or a date for the prom before because i always had Austin." Whitney never had to worry about getting a date for Prom or Homecoming because she and Austin always went together, but this year it would be different.

Katherine ran her hand through her hair and looked around the park. With this new information she would need to think, a lot. Austin and Whitney were over, but that wasn't good, or bad. It just meant she still couldn't really allow herself to like Austin, or if she did to tell Whitney. She looked back at Whitney with a smile.
"Now you have time to work on your identity. You are no longer a twosome, but a onesome. You are Whitney and no one else. I've gone to most of these dances by myself, or with a friend. It is not that bad." Katherine paused. "And anyways, all you have to do is stand in the courtyard and all the boys will come running. Trust me." These were reasons Katherine was jealous, but at the same time she didn't care.
