Austin pulled up into Katherine's driveway, he parked the car, got out and checked himself in the mirror one last time and walked towards the door. He had just got through talking with her and she had invited him to come over. She only lived down the street so it didn't take that long. He didn't know why but he always seemed to act different around her. She was different from most girls he dated/hooked up with.
He had just broke up with Whitney the other day. Technically, they weren't together, but the conversations was just as awkward as a break up. They had just agreed to stop messing around and finally end it between them. Being just another girl wasn't much to Austin, but Whitney was a friend and that matters more. Austin walked up to the porch and the front door. He rang the doorbell.

Katherine was surprised by her boldness that she had invited Austin over. And just a few days after Whitney had told her the news. She looked at herself in the mirror, promising herself that they were only friends and she only wanted to be his friend. She was wearing a bluish gray halter top and dark blue jeans, her feet only covered in blue striped socks. She ran her hand through her hair and reapplied her light lip gloss before going downstairs.
Kate loved ice cream and she always kept a few different flavors in the freezer for variety. Her parents were out working, or visiting friends. Her parents were rarely around lately. As she walked downstairs, the door bell rang. Austin lived only five minutes away by car, though he had rarely come over before. Katherine walked over to her door, taking a deep breath before opening it. "Hey Austin," she said, opening the door wider. "Come in."

Austin's eyes scanned the outside of the house. He had never really paid too much attention to the fact that Katherine was only down the street. He had never been over here house, but ironically always thought of her as 'the girl next door'. She was different and all of a sudden that was exactly what Austin was into at the moment. He never got tired of girls, but Kat wasn't chasing after him, at that's something new, atleast for now.
Austin turned back to the door, hearing the door knob shake. The door swung open and there she stood, "Hey" he replied back with a smile. He accepted her invitation and walked through the door frame, taking a couple steps into house before turning back to her. "You parents aren't here are they?" he asked on purpose, jokingly. He was just pretending he had some other things on his mind.

Katherine smiled, taking his question as a joke. "No, they're not. But Catsanova is, and he doesn't like other men touching his lady," she replied jokingly. Catsanova was her big orange tabby cat who was very temper mental and acted like he was King Kong. She loved him, though he could get jealous and nip her ankles if she ignored him. At the moment he was sleeping in her parent's bedroom, blissfully unaware of the company.
Katherine looked Austin over once and then walked into the kitchen, guessing he would follow. He was hot, no denying it. And he was a catch, but she hoped his charm wouldn't fool her. He had broken her best friend's heart and she wasn't prepared to be just another number on his list of heartbreaks. She wasn't even sure if she could keep his attention as long as some of the other girls. "So, chocolate or vanilla?" she asked, referring to the ice cream. She was a sort of half 'n half herself, but that was just her.

Austin smiled when she replied, her parents weren't home and he doubted the would be. No one can have fun if their parents were just in the other room, or atleast Austin couldn't. His parents were different from most parents, which was why he never talked about them. Some people have asked about his parents and family, but he usually avoids the question or changes the subject.
Catsanova? he thought to himself, it only took him a split second to realize that must have been her cat. He smirked at the comment and followed her into the kitchen, Well you should probably tell him to cover his eyes" he joked with a grin. He wasn't going to try anything, he and Kat were close friends. This was one of the first moments as the 'Other Austin', his secondary personality. He leaned against the counter, "Chocolate" he replied with a smile.

Katherine smiled again at his comment. She took it as harmless flirting, though she wished she wasn't wearing such an outfit that showed off her figure. She could only imagine what he might be thinking, which made her a tad self conscious. "Should I now," she said, a little more flirtatious than she normally was. Austin could inspire that behavior in her, though she tried not to. She didn't want to be duped like every other girl.
Katherine was trying not to think of Austin as the available boy, who did have a side that was terrible, but could also be sort of sweet, standing in her kitchen. He was Whitney's ex and it wasn't good to like your friend's ex. "Chocolate, nice choice," she said and moved over to the cabinet. She had to stand on her tip toes and reach up to get the ice cream bowl, but she managed. She then walked over to the freezer and bent over to take out the vanilla and chocolate ice cream. She slowly scooped out the ice cream, as it was kind of hard the first couple of scoops. "There," she said, smiling up at him.
